Who are you? Proverbs 31:25-27

…and what are YOU made of ?

Welcome to Day 31 of the Will Proverbs Change Your Life? Reading Series. Today’s reading is Proverbs chapter 31.

Today’s favorite verse in Proverbs chapter 31 is…

Strength and dignity are her clothing and her position is strong and secure; she rejoices over the future [the latter day or time to come, knowing that she and her family are in readiness for it]! She opens her mouth in skillful and godly Wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness [giving counsel and instruction]. She looks well to how things go in her household, and the bread of idleness (gossip, discontent, and self-pity) she will not eat. (Proverbs 31:25-27 AMP)

In conclusion of the Proverbs Reading Series, I would like to challenge us all to focus on being INTROSPECTIVE today. Proverbs 31 highlights the characteristics of the virtuous woman and we must also , as men and women, be able to produce evidence in our character of the virtues and morals we proclaim.

5 Questions to ask your self today:

1. How will I clothe my self today? Will I wear peace, love, strength, etc?

Know, first, who you are; and then adorn yourself accordingly.  ~Epictetus

2. What will my position and stance be like today? Will they reflect my core?

Rise O fallen fighters, rise and take your stance again, He who fight and run away, live to fight another day ~Bob Marley

3. How does my future look based on my present preparedness?

I run on the road, long before I dance under the lights ~Muhammad Ali

4. What am I talking about today? Is it of substance?

The words of the tongue should have three gatekeepers:  Is it true?  Is it kind? Is it necessary? ~ Arabian proverb

5. Is my house (heart, mind, body, work, goals, ‘actual home’) in order?

Good order is the foundation of all good things ~Edmund Burke

I am reading The Richest Man Who Ever Lived: King Solomon’s Secrets to Success, Wealth, and Happiness. Mr. Scott reveals several breakthrough strategies to achieve a life of success. One of these strategies he recommends that you read a chapter from Proverbs a day. For your reading schedule, he recommends that each day you read the chapter that matches the current day of the month. So for August 1st you would read Proverbs Chapter 1.

August marks my third month on this reading plan and it’s amazing how fun and enlightening reading Proverbs can be.

This month I will share my favorite verse for the Proverbs chapter of the day along with a video clip, picture, etc.

Check out other days of the Proverbs Reading Series.

*NOTE: One strategy that I use on this reading plan is that if I miss a day, oh well. You can read whatever chapters missed the next month on the corresponding day. Just read the chapter that matches the day of the month. That way it doesn’t become a chore and you can stay present.

Lean On The Lord & Be At Peace, Proverbs 29:25

Welcome to Day 29 of the Will Proverbs Change Your Life? Reading Series. Today’s reading is Proverbs chapter 29.

Today’s favorite verse in Proverbs chapter 29 is…

The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever leans on, trusts in, and puts his confidence in the Lord is safe and set on high. (Proverbs 29:25 AMP)

The thing you fear most has no power. Your fear of it is what has the power. Facing the truth really will set you free. -Oprah Winfrey

Take Back Your Power

No weapon formed against you shall prosper. Isaiah 54:17

I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

Know The Truth

Be strong. Take courage. Don’t be intimidated. Don’t give them a second thought because God, your God, is striding ahead of you. He’s right there with you. He won’t let you down; he won’t leave you. (Deuteronomy 31:6 MSG)

This resurrection life you received from God is not a timid, grave-tending life. It’s adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike “What’s next, Papa?” God’s Spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we really are. We know who he is, and we know who we are: Father and children. And we know we are going to get what’s coming to us—an unbelievable inheritance! We go through exactly what Christ goes through. If we go through the hard times with him, then we’re certainly going to go through the good times with him! (Romans 8:15-17 MSG)

Try this mediation exercise found in The Book of Awakening: Having the Life You Want by Being Present to the Life You Have by Mark Nepo.

Take one thing that is worrying you, and use your breathing to make a flag of yourself.

With each exhalation, shake your hands open, letting the gust of worry move through you.

Feel the moment your worry has left your hands, no matter how brief it seems.

If you feel worried or fearful during your day, exhale slowly and open your hands.

Don’t run from a challenge. Instead run toward it beacause the only way to escape fear is to trample it beneath your feet. -Nadia Comaneci

I love those who can smile in trouble, who can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. ‘Tis the business of little minds to shrink, but they whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves their conduct, will pursue their principles unto death. – Leonardo da Vinci
